ukraine and six partner countries of the european union imposed sanctions on the republic of belarus for electoral fraud and human rights violations. this is reported by unn with reference to the statement of the eu council.
"the candidate countries of the republic of north macedonia, montenegro and albania and the east countries (european free trade association) iceland, liechtenstein and norway, members of the european economic area, as well as ukraine, join the council's decision," statement by high representative josep borrell.
the statement also states that they will ensure that their national policies are in line with this council decision.
"the european union takes these commitments into account and welcomes them," the statement said.
