belarusian opposition has created a new coordination council. the former ceased to function as its members were arrested or expelled from the country.
svetlana aleksievich, a member of the presidium of the previous coordinating council, spoke about this in an interview with the german spiegel .
she says there is no more coordination council.
"its members were or are in prison, or were expelled from the country or fled. a new council has been created, the names of its members are kept secret for their protection. communication is conducted through social networks," she said.
aleksievich left belarus at the end of september, she was the only member of the presidium of the coordinating council at large inside the country. then her representatives stated that her departure was not connected with the criminal prosecution of the members of the presidium.
