the parliament of azerbaijan (milli majlis - ed.) invited the government of the country to apply to the organization for security and cooperation in europe to exclude france from among the co-chairs of the osce minsk group.
this is stated in the statement of the legislative body, adopted on thursday, november 26, in response to the resolution of the french senate urging the government to recognize the independence of nagorno-karabakh.
milli majlis also protested to the french senate over the resolution on nagorno-karabakh adopted the day before and called for a review of political and economic relations with paris.
speaker sahib gafarova stated that "the azerbaijani people will continue to rally around president ilham aliyev into a fist and are able to suppress all dirty acts directed against the state and people."
"the milli majlis calls on the azerbaijani government to appeal to the osce leadership to recall france, which with its position and statements in recent days has questioned its own neutrality, from the co-chairs of the minsk group," the document says.
the statement also contains proposals "to reconsider the existing political relations between azerbaijan and france", as well as "to deeply analyze the economic ties between the two countries and take appropriate measures."
during the discussions, a number of mps also made proposals to recall the ambassador of azerbaijan in paris for consultations, to break off all relations with the upper house of the french parliament.
